Classical Egyptian and Folkloric Belly Dancing
6 week series with Jaimie des Tombe
Introduction Class 5:00 – 6:00 pm
Beginner/Intermediate Class* 6:15 – 7:30 pm
$72 to $60 sliding scale
*Requires advance permission from instructor
Jaimie is offering a 6 week series of belly dance classes geared
toward the beginner and intermediate student. Each class will consist
of in-depth isolation work, undulations, shimmies, hand and arm
placement and floor patterns. We will also work on proper posture, and
technique. Whether you are dedicated dancer, or just want to spice
things up a bit, this series is sure to help you discover new ways to
move, and muscles you didn’t know you had.
Jaimie took her first belly dance class in Nevada City at age 14. She
taught her first series of classes in Bavaria on a military base in
1998 to military personnel and military wives. Locally, she has taught
on and off since 1998 as an independent instructor and as a member of
long time dance collective Shekina Sehar. She has traveled far and
wide in pursuit of different techniques and teachers, and brings to
you her passion for this dance. Stylistically, she’s a great admirer
of classical Egyptian belly dance, though she doubts she’ll ever shake
her California Tribal roots.
What to wear: dance or yoga pants, a scarf for your hips, a tank or
choli top and zils if you have them.

Acro Explorations: The Journey in our body
with Jenny Bath and Isha McCaskey
Sunday, February 26
1:00 to 5:00 pm
$45 per person
All walks of life are invited to come play with a unique experience in
movement of our self in relation to others. This 4 hour workshop will
include group and partner stretching, Acro basing and flying, and
conversations for personal and group reflection. Conversations will
explore beliefs we are carrying about our body; how social and
cultural influences affect these beliefs; and ways to create new
stories of play, strength, trust, confidence and love! This workshop
is for older folks relating to their bodies in a new and different
way, folks struggling to accept the size-shape-strength of their body,
folks who have a different relationship to their body than mainstream
society projects toward them, and anyone who loves connecting with
other people and learning something new. No partner necassary.
